EAMES LEADS NADI TO SURFING GOLD VICTORY

FIJI Surfing Association’s development officer Andy Eames took home the Gold at the Beachouse Bash surfing competition which was held at Fiji Beachouse on Sunday the 9th of March.

Eames only just managed to win the highly contested Male Open Shortboard competition ahead of Paul Chong-Sue and Edwin Gardiner both of whom provided stiff competition.

In the Girls Open Shortboard Division, Suva girls Talei Lovell and Sirkka Killman took out first and second place with newcomer Samantha Suendermann taking out third.

“The weather conditions were not as good as they could have been, the light onshore wind made for some tricky conditions but contestants definitely made the most of the 2 foot waves,” said visiting Australian meteorologist Steven Lyon.

This competition is the first held by the Coral Coast Boardriders, a newly formed club within the Fiji Surfing Association. The Association is excited about the upcoming competitions in 2014 and welcomes all new members. “FSA is all about promoting and developing surfing in the Fiji and we look forward to seeing more people participate in the event calendar. It’s also a great way to meet surfers from around the country and have a bit of fun in competition!” says Alana Tilly FSA member.

The next Fiji Surfing Association Competition will be held at the Suva Lighthouse on the 22nd of this month and hosted by the Christian Surfers Club.
