Cloudbreak Clothing sponsor Fiji team for 2014 Melanesian Cup

After Fiji hosting last years Melanesian Cup at the world famous break of Cloudbreak in December it was then that the Samoan Surf Riders put up their hand to host the 2014 Melanesian Cup.

Competition is due to be held at Aganoa Beach, Savai’i in Samoa and competition is due to start on the 1st of September and go through to the 6th. This year’s competition will see Fiji, Vanuatu, New Caledonia and Samoa competing for the glory of being crowned the winner of the 2014 Melanesian Cup.

Fiji is sending a well rounded team of 13 competitors, 1 team coach/ manager and 2 judges. The team will compete in 6 categories : Open Male shortboard, and longboard, Open female shortboard, and longboard, Male under 18’s shortboard, and over 35’s shortboard.

This is the 4th year that the cup is to be run, with previous hosts being Vanuatu, New Caledonia and Fiji. The Melanesian Cup was designed to allow smaller countries within Oceania to compete against each other and develop their skills in competition and at the same event have the opportunity to share experiences on what their countries are doing to develop the sport and how they are preparing their surfers of tomorrow for the world of international surfing.
