Fiji Surfing Coaching: Fiji Surf Association (FSA) held a junior coaching event on Saturday 27th August 2022 at Fiji’s Beach House on the Coral Coast. The intention: to meet the new crop of junior talent. Fiji National Sport’s Commission has given FSA a budget to roll out a new ‘regional’ coaching infrastructure, with 4 regions: Suva, Coral Coast, Sigatoka and Nadi.
We hope the surfing community will help our juniors get to the training events and the surf breaks so that they have a chance to shine. Coaches will provide expert instruction through regional training sessions, but regular training is needed to reach an advanced level. A link to a video of this latest event is provided below.
In the video Victor Maginnity and Lesi Navuwai demonstrate some surfing specific training techniques: the ‘shin box’ and the ‘pop up’. We will do more of these videos so our members have access to expert surfing training techniques, which can be practiced at home. There’s no substitution for training and the best surfers in the world today are the hardest trainers – just look at what Italo does in breaks from competition.
