The Fiji Surfing Association has sent seven competitors to contest the 2012 Melanesian Cup in Vanuatu. The competition brings together teams from Papua-New Guinea, New Caledonia, Vanuatu, Solomon Islands and Fiji to show their talents on the waves in the sport of surfing.

Isei Tokovou and Paul Chong Sue will be competing in the Men’s Division. Defending his title is current Melanesian Cup MENS CHAMPION : Fijian Isei Tokovou ! Isei was also the Volcom Fiji Pro Wildcard in June 2012.

Paul is a very good prospect with versatility in all types of waves. Kalani Muller, Cormac Walkden-Brown, Lionel Gibson and Mark Wakeham are representing the Junior Division. Kalani is looking to improve his previous semi-final placing. Romeo McKellar will accompany the team as manager and coach.

The competition waiting period starts Today and the swell is looking good for a possible go.
The lads should have no problems with the conditions as the Vanuatu surf is usually in the small to medium range.
