Attention all, COME AND TRY, kids between the ages of 5 to 18 years old are invited to come and hit the beach for an afternoon to get a taste of what the Fiji Surfing Association is hoping will become Fiji’s next big thing. The FSA has taken the lead role in surf education and introduced a Nippers Water Safety and Aquatic Education Program which will be run every Friday afternoon from 4:30pm at Wailoaloa beach with new participants always welcome.
The purpose of the program is to educate kids and youth in water safety and further their passion for aquatics sporting activates. Some activities that were ran and will be run in the future include swimming, board paddling, sprints, tug of war, flags, first aid awareness and for the older kids Surf Rescue Certificate training with more activities to come.
The program is being facilitated by activate FSA and Surf Life Saving Australia members with year of experience as Surfers, volunteer Surf Life Savers and SLSA Nippers age managers. Whilst training with the kid and youth is happening the program facilitators have also been encouraging the involvement of the parent and care givers to help out with the running of the program.
These are exciting times for the FSA as the program participants will be the generation that kicks of Surf Life Saving within Fiji and caries it toward the future.
