The World Surf League has confirmed the championship tour locations for 2018 and Cloudbreak isn’t on that list. This will be an interesting year but nonetheless the FSA welcomes the challenges & rewards that come with it. If ones things for sure, the waves are here to stay.
We are excited about our 2018 calendar that is more diverse than ever and filled with the prosperity of international competition appearances. With a newly appointed committee, the FSA plans to make this transition as smooth as possible. One of our goals is to encourage and develop a more competitive and independent club organization. We’d like to see the local boardrider clubs holding more surf contests within their regions while maintaining an efficient and safe structure.
Due to the inclusion of surfing in the 2020 Olympics, the FSA has set focus on the prospects of attending all requirements necessary for selection. With the help of the Fiji National Sports Commission, Fiji Association of Sports and National Olympic Committee, and the IOC we are confident were headed in the right direction. However, there is still need for further fundraising and sponsorship to fill in the gaps in which we welcome such inquires. For now, stay tuned, big things to come and that also includes the waves!
